“…[36][37][38] It is also noteworthy that, we recently got similar results as that holes can be trapped into polyimide interface energy states beyond the pentacene layer, by using C-V measurement coupled with charge modulation spectroscopy (CMS), where diodes with TIPS-pentacene=polyimide double-layers were used. 14) The EL-EFISHG measurement of Au=pentacene=polyimide diode studied here showed good agreement with our recent study on TIPS-pentacene=polyimide diodes.…”

“…In contrast, the electric-field-induced optical second-harmonic generation (EFISHG) measurement which we have been developing is capable of directly probing carrier behavior, without aid of the equivalent circuit model [9][10][11]. By using an optical probe of pulsed laser beam, EFISHG is activated at molecules in response to dynamical motion of carriers that are injecting, accumulating, and transporting in OFET-type devices [12,13] and in organic metal-insulator-metal (MIM)structure devices [14,15]. These activated EFISHGs allow motion of carriers in organic devices to be probed directly and selectively.…”

“…The electroluminescence (EL) generated from the pentacene in the region V > 0 supports our model that electron transport occurs across the FP layer. The resulting carrier transport mechanism is considerably different from that observed for organic double-layer diodes with structures of Au/pentacene/polyimide (PI)/IZO [13], Au/6,13bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl)-pentacene/PI/indium tin oxide (ITO) [14], IZO/ N,N'-di- [15], and Au/pentacene/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene) [16], which we investigated in our previous studies. EFISHG coupled with the I-V measurement is helpful for analyzing the carrier transport mechanism of organic double-layer diodes, and thus enables the study of the electrical transport properties of organic semiconductor layers.…”

“…Further we need to couple MDC and EFISHG measurements with other methods that can probe carrier motions in energy space. Coupling of charge modulation spectroscopy, electro-absorption spectroscopy, and others will be effective [115,[166][167][168][169]. Further experiments and studies proceed.…”
