Analysis of bulk sample of salicylic acid by application of hydrotropic solubilization method

Abstract: In the present investigation, the poorly water-soluble drug, salicylic acid has been solubilized using 0.5 M ibuprofen sodium and 2.0 M sodium salicylate solution as hydrotropic agents for the titrimetric analysis precluding the use of organic solvents. Both hydrotropes are economic and pollution-free. The mean percent estimation of salicylic acid estimated in bulk sample by Indian Pharmacopoeial method is 98.78%. The mean percent estimation by ibuprofen sodium method and sodium salicylate method are 99.25% an… Show more

“…The results obtained are shown in Table (1) for Solubility of diclofenec sodium in water as well as in Table (2) Solubility of diclofenec sodium in different blends (1)(2)(3)(4). It is evident that there was improvement in the solubility of diclofenac sodium in (30% blend) containing different combinations of urea, PEG4000, PEG6000, PEG300, PEG400 and sodium acetate.…”

“…The mixed solvency approach discourages the use of organic solvents in large concentration (which may prove toxic) for development of a dosage forms. A number of solubilizers may be taken in small concentration curtailing their toxic levels and shows significant improvement in the solubility of the of poorly water soluble drugs [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] .…”

“…Cryogenic procedures have been created to upgrade the disintegration pace of medications by making nanostructured love photos tranquilize particles with high level of porosity at extremely low-temperature conditions. Cryogenic creations can be characterized by the sort of infusion gadget (slender, rotational, pneumatic, and ultrasonic spout), area of spout (above or under the fluid level), and the organization of cryogenic fluid (hydrofluoroalkanes, N2, Ar, O 2 , and natural solvents) [54]. After cryogenic handling, dry powder can be acquired by different drying procedures such as splash stop drying, barometrical stop drying, vacuum stop drying, and lyophilization.…”

“…Solubility plays a very important role in drug formulation development and estimation, but most drugs have very low water solubility. 1 2 3 Increasing the solubility of such drugs is a challenging task. There are many methods to increase the solubility of such drugs; however, there are many disadvantages in those methods such as some methods change the physical and chemical properties of the drug, in addition to some modifications in the drug, thereby increasing the drug's solubility.…”
