Analysis of a Miniaturized Multiresonant Wideband Slotted Microstrip Antenna With Modified Ground Plane

Abstract: In this letter, a miniaturized slotted microstrip antenna with modified ground plane for multiresonant wideband operation is proposed. The miniaturized antenna dimension is only about mm , where, is the wavelength of the resonant frequency of the conventional antenna (i.e., 5.5 GHz). The measured result shows two distinct resonant frequencies at 2 and 3.3 GHz. A 10-dB wide-impedance bandwidth of 3100 MHz ranging from 4.2-7.3 GHz is also achieved for the proposed antenna structure. The measured result shows tha… Show more

“…In Reference , annular ring microstrip antenna with finite ground is proposed with 52.02% impedance bandwidth from 3.3 to 5.7 GHz, but they fail to cover the 2G band and higher 5G sub‐6 GHz bands. In Reference , modified ground plane with open‐ended rectangular slots is presented, which successfully covers the 2G/5G bands but they suffer from low gain. In Reference , a hexagonal fractal antenna with modified ground structure is proposed that offers wideband, but is less compact and is not suitable for lower 2G band applications.…”

“…Das et al [6] have proposed several designs of compact multi-frequency microstrip patch antennas incorporating different unequal slots on the patch at arbitrary locations. Miniaturization of a microstrip patch antenna using slot on ground plane without and with slotted patch has been discussed in [7,8]. Another very popular method for designing a compact multi-frequency microstrip patch antenna is the concept of monopole antenna, using defected ground plane and modified patch [9][10][11].…”

“…Section 3 presents the validation of the simulated prototype and discussions on the measured results are also presented there. Finally, conclusions of this study are presented in Section 4.This antenna presents an extension to Analysis of a Miniaturized Multiresonant Wideband Slotted Microstrip Antenna With Modified Ground Plane [10].…”
