Analysis and prediction of grain temperature from air temperature to ensure the safety of grain storage

Abstract: Food security is an influential factor for the development and future of humanity. Stored grain temperature is a key physical variable for grain quality control and management in stored-grain ecosystem. In this study, a prediction model using Fourier series based on least-squares method is introduced to describe the average temperature movement of grain pile and the daily air temperature, naming hysteresis cycle model (HCM). Then the HCM based on the Fourier analysis is proposed that incorporating with the lea… Show more

“…When grain is infected by pests, the heat and moisture produced by the metabolism of feeding larvae will also lead to the increase in grain temperature [ 57 ]. The temperature and humidity in the granary are closely related to the activity of pests [ 58 ], and their constant changes may change the biological parameters of pests. When P. interpunctella harms stored grain, its biological characteristics will change with time due to the different positions and environments of granaries, and these factors may also affect the predicted distribution.…”

“…Temperature is an important indicator for maintaining grain quality in the process of grain storage, and it is also one of the most important physical factors The ORCID identification number(s) for the author(s) of this article can be found under https://doi.org/10.1002/star.202200260 DOI: 10.1002/star.202200260 in the process of grain storage. [2,3] Lowtemperature storage has obvious effects in ensuring grain quality and prolonging the grain storage period, and at the same time, it can also reduce the occurrence of insect pests to a certain extent. As a new type of warehouse that makes full use of shallow ground energy and realizes lowtemperature storage of grain, the research of underground granary is of great significance.…”
