Analysis and Optimization of Open Circulating Cooling Water System

Abstract: Open circulating cooling water system is widely used in process industry. For a system with a fixed structure, the water consumption and blowdown usually change with the varying parameters such as quality and temperature. With the purpose of water saving, it is very important to optimize the operation strategy of water systems. Considering the factors including evaporation, leakage, blowdown and heat transfer, the mass and energy conservation equations of water system are established. On this basis, the qualit… Show more

“…Unlike ordinary membrane treatment units, circulating cooling water systems have higher concentrations of inorganic salts, fluctuating pH, and temperature change, 32 which affect the physicochemical characteristics of NBs such as their particle size distribution, ζ-potential, and scale inhibition effect in a circulating cooling water system. Therefore, in this study, with simulated circulating cooling water as the medium, the influences of the main salts, pH value, and temperature of circulating cooling water on the particle size distribution and ζpotential of air nanobubbles (A-NBs) were investigated.…”

“…This needs to be done to avoid damage that can occur due to excess heat generated from the production process. In this case, the cooling process can be done using water which is called the cooling water system [2][3]. If the cooling system in the generator cannot operate it will cause, such as: (1) A sudden thermal increase in equipment will cause damage to the equipment, which can have certain financial consequences in terms of equipment fixing or replacement [1][2], (2) equipment damage can cause harm to both individuals and the environment [4], (3) the impact of the absence of cooling water, a plant can cause a blackout or unscheduled shutdown [3], [5].…”

“…The water consumption and discharge curves of the open CCS under different conditions and the optimal operation strategy were obtained. [6] Ma et al established an experimental setup for CCS and verified the accuracy of the best measurement method under different conditions, and their research effectively improved the perceived accuracy of circulating cooling water systems. [7] Besides, in terms of local system optimization, Giro et al adopted the popular unsupervised learning algorithm to optimize the monitoring module of the pumping system.…”
