Abstract:Lightning strikes are a major cause of insulator flashover and line tripping; hence, improving line lightning resistance is essential. This article establishes a 220 kV transmission line model in PSCAD/EMTDC and examines the effect of alternative grounding resistance and phase arrester configurations on lightning resistance levels.
