Analysis and implementation of the Large Scale Video-on-Demand System

Abstract: Next Generation Network (NGN) provides multimedia services over broadband based networks, which supports high definition TV (HDTV), and DVD quality video-on-demand content. The video services are thus seen as merging mainly three areas such as computing, communication, and broadcasting. It has numerous advantages and more exploration for the large-scale deployment of video-on-demand system is still needed. This is due to its economic and design constraints. It's need significant initial investments for full se… Show more

“…In case the web cache memory does not have the required content then the request is forwarded to application server in the list of application servers. The application web server is selected from the least loaded application server [4,6]. The application web server searches the required video stream from a set of the well connected distributed database servers in Figure 2.…”

“…In fact, the network I/O bottleneck has been observed in many earlier systems, such as Network Project in Orlando [4] and Microsoft's Tiger Video Fileserver [5]. The multicast facilities of modern communication network [6][7][8] offer an efficient means of one to many data transmissions. Multicast techniques can also significantly improve the VOD performance by reducing the required network bandwidth greatly, so that the overall network load is reduced.…”

“…A good number of works found in the area of network traffic handle. The hit ratio of a web cache grows to log-like fashion as a function on the cache size [1], [2], [3], [7], [8], [10], [13], [14], [15]. The equivalent capacity in the network and its application to bandwidth allocation in high speed networks is the grade of service [4], [16], [17].…”

“…The viewer initiative huge traffic of request to the video on demand network generally follows the Zipf like distribution. The traffic load and shape of the load inside the on demand system is presented in the articles [8], [9].Victor o.k. et.al [6] proposed different types of batching request model.…”
