Analysing Association in Environmental Pollution, Tourism and Economic Growth: Empirical Evidence from the Commonwealth of Independent States

Abstract: Clean and green environment along with sustainable development is the prime objective of every state. We explore empirically the nexus between tourism, environmental pollution measured by carbon (CO2) emissions, population, trade, foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth in six countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States over 1995–2018. Traditional panel estimation technique is employed, where the Hausman test suggests fixed-effects over random effect estimator. We also employed the robust… Show more

“…Tourism-led growth (TLG) hypothesis has been empirically examined by several prior studies in the context of various countries, for example: [14] for Uruguay; [15] for a panel group of 167 countries; [16] for Laos; [17] for Cook Islands; [18] for Iran; and [19] for Indonesia; [20] for six countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States.…”

“…Environmental pollution index (ep). Drawing on studies related to environmental pollution measurement [27][28][29][30][31], this paper applied three indicators, industrial wastewater emissions, and industrial smoke (dust) emissions, industrial SO 2 emissions, to obtain the weights of emissions for 2011-2020 using the entropy value method. Then, the environmental pollution index for each city in the YREB was calculated using the weighted summation method with the following formula:…”

“…Now we are going to find out the effects inflation over economic growth so we assume and replace the Production by Economic growth(GDP growth) Y and capital by inflation, Economic Growth is dependent Variable while inflation is explanatory variable. By Using the Cobb-Douglas Production Function then the model specified as follow [3,4,15,[21][22][23][24].…”
