The chiral pollution is a serious issue for our health and environment due to the enantio-selective biodegradation of the chiral pollutants. It has adverse impact on our society and science. There is a big loss of our economy due to the use of racemic agrochemicals. The most notorious chiral pollutants are pesticides, polychloro biphenyls, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, brominated flame retardants, drugs, and pharmaceuticals. More than 1500 chiral pollutants are present in the environment. Unfortunately, there is no regulation and control of the chiral pollutants. Therefore, it is an urgent need of the present 21st century to develop a data bank on the chiral pollutants, guidelines for controlling the production, sale and use of the racemic agrochemicals and the other industrial products. The Governments of the different countries should come forward to initiate the regulations. US, FDA, US EPA, and WHO are the most important regulatory authorities and should think about the chiral pollutants. The present article highlights the impact of the chiral pollution on the society and science. Besides, the efforts have also been made to emphasize the need of the regulations to control the chiral pollution.

In this work, carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were utilized as efficient adsorbents for pantoprazole (PP) removal. We used MWCNTs that were synthesized using the chemical vapor deposition process. The physical characteristics of MWCNTs were described by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) contact area, surface functional group analysis by the point of zero charge (pHPZC), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis, Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The single-point BET surface area of the MWCNTs was found to be 98.7 m 2 g -1 , with the median pores' diameter of 30.9 nm and an average pore(s) volume of 0.764 cm 3 g -1 . Effective parameters on the PP removal including, pH, contact time and initial amount of adsorbents were optimized, revealing maximum PP removal at pH=6.0 after 25.0 min when 0.026 g MWCNTs. The pseudo second-order kinetic model for adsorption of PP on the surface of both adsorbents revealed the high value of correlation coefficient, indicating the high ability of the pseudo second-order model for representation of experimental results. Adsorption equilibrium studies indicated that the Freundlich isotherm efficiently represented MWCNTs adsorption data. The thermodynamic parameters (Gebbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy) of adsorption process were calculated. Results had shown that adsorption of PP on the MWCNTs is feasible, spontaneous, and exothermic process in the temperature range of 25-76 °C.

This article provides an overview of the evolution and trends of the targets in the main environmental compartments, air, water, soil/sediments, and biota. Air and water are the most important assets for our survival, but in certain areas these are heavily contaminated by notorious pollutants. Water is most often targeted for pollutants because of its good solubility power for a wide range of contaminants. Among the well‐known and regulated contaminants, several groups of substances have emerged as particularly relevant as environmental pollutants. These compounds constitute new risks for environmental and human health. In order to face up to these new risk challenges, there is an increasing need to assess their occurrence, behavior, and degradation products in the environment. Under the Stockholm Convention and other agreements, the European countries compelled themselves to eliminate or reduce the production, use, and emissions of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and to decrease human and ecosystem exposure. Now, one aspect under discussion is the extension of the pollutants with POPs properties to new compounds needing environmental monitoring. This article, divided into four sections (air, water, soil/sediments, and biota), covers the main targets, among POPs, endocrine‐disrupting compounds, and emerging contaminants (EMCs), on which analytical chemistry is focused nowadays. Moreover, the last trends in techniques and strategies to develop suitable methods to analyze these target compounds are briefly commented. Particular attention is focused on those novel aspects and approaches that have attracted interest from the scientific community in recent years.
