RESUMELa percolation du lixiviat en provenance des déchets des décharges constitue une source de pollution des ressources en eau souterraine par infiltration, constituant ainsi une menace aussi importante que celle liée à l'accentuation du déficit hydrique. La décharge publique de Larache constitue un modèle type de détérioration des ressources en eaux par un effet de contamination du lixiviat en provenance de la décharge et des pratiques agricoles. Les mesures réalisées sur le lixiviat et sur les eaux prélevées des puits situés autour de la décharge et ayant porté sur les paramètres physicochimiques, de pollution (O 2 dissous, DCO…), de métaux lourds et sur des analyses bactériologiques, permettent de qualifier le lixiviat comme une source de contamination à potentiel anoxique et réducteur. La charge polluante est importante et se traduit par des valeurs de DCO et d'azote kjeldahl élevées (63375 mg/l et de 798 mg/l). Les résultats permettent aussi de conclure sur la qualité médiocre des eaux contenues dans les poches souterraines notamment pendant la période sèche, ce qui est illustrée par les valeurs élevées en certains métaux (Pb (800 µg/l), Cd (40 µg/l), Cr (80 µg/l) et Fe (650 mg/l)), en coliformes totaux, en coliformes fécaux et en streptocoques fécaux.

Intensive urban agriculture is expanding in Cameroon, which increases the risks of environmental pollution, particularly in the lowlands. This study assessed the seasonal characteristics of some potentially toxic elements and their ecological risks during the dry and wet seasons in urban agricultural soils in four lowlands in Yaoundé. The area and seasonal variation of some potentially toxic elements (Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Cr, and Ni) were evaluated using mixed-effects modeling. The pollution status of these elements in the soil was evaluated and interpreted using parameters such as the single pollution (SPI) and Nemerow composite pollution (NCPI) indices. In addition, the effect of these metals in the environment was assessed using the potential ecological risk index (PERI). The distribution of all the studied elements showed an area effect, while a seasonal effect was only noticeable for Cu. The concentration of Cu, Pb, and Zn was higher than the recommended threshold values in one of the areas sampled, while Cr exceeded these threshold values in all areas during both seasons. Cr exhibited the highest SPI among all studied elements during the dry and wet seasons in all areas. Except for the NCPI in one area, where grade V (strong) soil pollution was recorded during the wet season, the soil from all the study areas exhibited a slight pollution level (grade III) with a mean NCPI between 1 and 2. The PERI value of all areas was below the reference values during both seasons, suggesting an overall low potential contamination risk of the soil biota. The results indicate that preventive action to limit the heavy metal contamination in the lowlands of Yaoundé needs to be taken, for instance, through the promotion of more sustainable use of agrochemicals like pesticides and mineral fertilizers.

The article deals with the determination of the factors responsible for the degradation of the Reghaia nature reserve. The objective of this research was to evaluate the spatial variation of chemical pollutants including the accumulation of some heavy metals (Iron, Zinc, Copper, Cobalt, Cadmium, Silver, Nickel and Lead) in the water of Lake Reghaia, Algiers. The study was carried out on 64 water samples taken from Reghaia Lake. For physico-chemical parameters and for MTEs that have been assayed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. On the chemical level, high levels of nitrates have been recorded in water between 4mg / l, 30mg / l and concerning the phosphate, it has a high content (5.7 mg / l). Surface waters have high levels of suspended solids. BOD5 and COD are high, with COD / DBO5 ratios well above 3, dissolved oxygen values do not comply with WHO standards with P = 0.000001. Water degradation is caused by the presence of latrines, piles of garbage, farms, draining of sanitation facilities in nature and especially in watercourses. Heavy metal pollution is significant and has been reported for Plomp (Pb), copper (Cu), iron (Fe) and cobalt (Co), which reached the high risk level (p <0.01) especially upstream of the Reghaia Lake. And that the MTE contents vary irregularly from one station to another and from one depth to another. The results reveal that the waters of the Réghaia Lake are of very poor quality and the degradation of the ecosystem is more and more increased, to this effect a treatment is recommended.
