Ecotourism management requires a lot of funds, so through ecotourism activities visitors can get involved in supporting the conservation of the area through willingness to pay (WTP). The purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions and preferences of tourists and the willingness to pay visitors (WTP) in supporting the conservation of typical bird species in MNP. Determination of the sample using accidental sampling technique. The number of samples used was 38 tourists. The characteristics and perceptions of visitors were analyzed using qualitative descriptive, while the willingness to pay of tourists used quantitative analysis. The results showed of the calculation WTP to support the conservation of endemic bird species through the management of birdwatching ecotourism attractions obtained a value of 2,000 000, -. This value indicates that the appropriate price for birdwatching ecotourism services in Masihulan Village for tourists is 2,000,000,-.

This study conducted a literature review of existing research in Indonesia on tourist visits to mangrove forests as eco-tourism. Based on the 20 (twenty) studies that the author has reviewed, there are 19 (nineteen) previous studies that have studied the supply side far more. The feasibility of developing mangrove eco-tourism based on the supply side, namely; tourist attraction objects, accessibility to objects, socio-economic conditions of the community, modes of transportation and accommodation, supervision management, supporting facilities and infrastructure, availability of clean water within the object area, relations between tourists and people around the area, value of carrying capacity, and security of the area . There is still a little research from the demand side that researchers do through the google scholar search system and sort from the top to the bottom of the 20 selected journals. Only one study uses the theoretical basis of Ajzen and Fishbein (1980) as a theoretical model of responsible environmental behavior or a model of their responsible environmental behavior based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB) (Ajzen, 2020). Researchers on the demand side or requests from visitors' desires are still lacking in research that should be encouraged to be able to increase self identity or social influence making environmental consciousness, pro-environmental behavior, and environmental belief a mediating or moderating variable so as to produce a significant or positive analysis on behavior for the decision to visit the mangrove forest eco-tourism is more sustainable.

Assessing Household Willingness to Pay for the Conservation of the Phou Chom Voy Protected Area in Lao PDR

This study aimed to examine whether local residents were willing to pay (WTP) for the improvement of the Phou Chom Voy Protected Area (PCV PA), by using the hypothetical scenario framework of the contingent valuation method. We interviewed a sample of 365 local residents. Among the respondents, 271 were willing to pay to maintain the protected area. Most residents who refused to pay had low incomes and stated that they did not want to increase their monthly expenses by contributing to the conservation fund. The estimated mean willingness to pay among the respondents who expressed the maximum willingness to pay for natural forest conservation because of its natural value and attractiveness for tourism was Lao Kip (LAK) 27,055/year. The aggregate willingness to pay for the protected area improvement was approximately LAK 93 million. The logit regression results revealed that age, education level, annual household income, and attitude toward conservation significantly influenced willingness to pay. The results of this study provide insights into applying willingness to pay in sustainable financing, to develop market-based conservation approaches in protected areas, thus reducing ongoing biodiversity losses and maintaining natural resources.
