Show more

“…Barboza‐Gudino et al (2010) correlated the mostly fluvial El Alamar Formation with the marine Zacatecas Formation and other correlative units to the west (Figure 1). In contrast, Rubio‐Cisneros and Lawton (2011) and Rubio‐Cisneros et al (2011) did not include the El Alamar Formation in the stratigraphic framework of north‐eastern Mexico mostly because they did not find Triassic strata in their study area in the Huizachal Valley.…”

“…The La Joya Formation unconformably overlies the El Alamar or La Boca Formation in most locations (Barboza‐Gudino et al, 2010, 2014; Michalzik, 1991; Mixon et al, 1959; Rubio‐Cisneros & Lawton, 2011; Rubio‐Cisneros et al, 2011). The La Joya Formation must have been deposited after 166 Ma because it stratigraphically overlies the upper La Boca Formation, which has a maximum depositional age of 166 Ma (Rubio‐Cisneros & Lawton, 2011; calculated using our methodology).…”
