Arabica coffee is primarily cultivated in agroforestry systems in Indonesia, but limited local knowledge and technology adoption hinder its productivity due to insufficient practices in coffee pruning management. This study aims to analyze variations in coffee canopy pruning (Pruning+Bending) management and the impact on plant growth and soil physical characteristics.. The experiment employed a split-plot experimental design and utilized the Fisher test (5%) to assess the treatment effects. The primary plot focused on coffee canopy pruning using two management options: (1) Pruning (PR) and (2) Bending (BN). The subplots included various types and doses of fertilizer treatments: (1) Control (F0), (2) Chicken manure (F1), (3) Chicken manure+NPK fertilizer (F2), and (4) NPK fertilizer (F3). Each experimental plot covered an area of 20x20 m and contained 50 coffee plants. Bending techniques represent alternative pruning methods, and, in general, they have a significant impact on improving several coffee parameters compared to total pruning. Regarding the soil’s physical properties, the bending technique exhibited a higher infiltration rate than pruning. The management approach of Bending+Chicken manure: NPK fertilizer (BNF2) enhanced various coffee parameters, resulting in an increased stem diameter of 4.79 cm, new shoot length of 471.20 cm, and chlorophyll content of 6.83 mg/g. Furthermore, this treatment increased soil organic carbon content by 7.51% and reduced bulk density to 0.58 g/cm. In conclusion, the bending technique wasproven to be more advantageous than pruning, especially when combined with chicken manure and NPK fertilizer for enhancing coffee management among farmers.

One of the main supporting factors for the agricultural sector in the Cihea Irrigation Area is the availability of sufficient water resources. However, uncertain climatic conditions due to climate change lead the changes in the rain distribution and affect the availability of water resources. The study aims to (1) assess the land water balance and drought index in Cihea Irrigation Area and (2) develop alternatives related to irrigation priority locations based on hydro climatological conditions. The water balance was analyzed using the Thornthwaite-Mather method (1957), while the irrigation priority locations were determined using the composite performance index method. Based on the annual water balance analysis, this irrigation area had a 568 mm/year water surplus. However, there was a water shortage from July to October, at 132 mm per month. From ten land systems,the highest deficit was in SL_9, while the lowest was in SL_1. These conditions triggered drought in some locations. The highest drought index occurred in August (56,89%), while the lowest occurred in July (3.98%). Based on hidroclimatological ,the prioritised locations for escalated productivity are paddy fields in CDK.16 Ka, CDK.17 Ki, PD.1 Ka, PD.1 Ki, PD.2 Ka, PD.2 Ki, CRJ.6 Ki, CRJ.7 Ki, CRJ.8 Ki, CRJ.9 Ki, CRJ.10 Ki, and CKR.1 Ki in the Ciranjang subdistrict. Meanwhile, to gain the equal irrigation distribution, the priority locations consist of paddy fields in CSK.1 Ki to CSK.5 ki, CSK.6 Ki, CSK.6 Ka, CSK.7 Ki to CSK.9 Ki, CSK.10 Ki, and CSK.10 Ka, situated in Bocongpicung District. Land degradation is a phenomena of the decreasing in land use function, potential use and irreplaceable organism. Many causes result in land degradation such as soil erosion, rain erosion which are all accelerated by human activities example agricultural activity. Increased agricultural activity is caused by an increase in population and also increasing food needs. Land exploitation for agricultural activities result in land degradation such as planting on conservation areas that cause erosion. Kledung Sub-district is one of the regions that practices massive agricultural land use and plants in a conservation land. Practices in Kledung Sub-district have caused floods and soil erosion in Kledung Sub-district in the last few years. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of land degradation that occurred in Kledung Sub-district and its implications for the land use planning to increase awareness of various parties about the dangers of land degradation. This research was conducted primarily by observation and secondary b examining documents about the indicators causing land degradation and conducting descriptive and quantitative analyzes. The quantitative analyze is using RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation). The analysis shows that the majority of erosion according to the Ministry of Forestry is moderate (>60-80 tons/ha/yr) covering1.231,01 Ha and according to Hammer which is very high (>100 tons/ha/yr) covering 469,62 Ha or 12,7% of the total area of Kledung Sub-district with a high level of erosion hazard it is necessary to evaluate the land use planning of Kledung Sub-district so that it can adjust the land use planning and the erosion hazard level in Kledung Sub-district.
