This study aims to carry out a global evaluation of 13 Music Education Bachelor Degrees from Colombia, academic programs focused on the higher training of music teachers in this country, and to establish the training guidelines received by the music education professors who study them. The methodology used is empirical-analytical and descriptive-type and makes use of content analysis techniques that NVivo software provide. In addition, mixed and contextual analyses have been combined regarding specific keywords, such as music, pedagogy, and teachers. The instrument applied was a matrix with content validity completed by an international group of nine evaluators. This matrix showed a structure made up of five categories: General description of the program; Curricular characterization; Curriculum structure; Guiding principles of the curriculum; Curriculum management. The results indicate that there are divergences in the approach of the programs at the training of music educators. It is concluded that the differences between these programmes lie mainly in their formative emphasis, music or pedagogy, in a context in which the instructive approaches of higher education in music education have not yet resolved the divergences and the necessary balance between the pedagogy or artistic training.

Relationship between collaboration and normalized scientific impact in South American public universities

The relationship between international collaboration and scientific impact is studied in the context of South American universities. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the strength of this relationship using nonparametric statistical methods. The records are the 244,300 papers published in journals indexed in Scopus (2011–2020) by researchers affiliated to 10 South American public universities and extracted with Scival support. There is a marked trend of collaborative work, since 93% of publications were collaborative at institutional, national or international level, with a higher percentage of international collaboration. A refined analysis of the geographic collaboration of publications in Q1 journals further evidences the frequency of international collaboration. In the top 4 collaborating partner institutions for each university, the presence of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique of France (CNRS) is observed, followed by the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research of Argentina (Conicet). It is proven that there is a statistically significant relationship (p < .01) in each of the 10 universities between collaboration (number of countries) and normalized impact (FWCI). The results confirmed the hypothesis of this study and the authors provide practical recommendations for science policy makers and researchers, including the promotion of strategic collaboration between different institutional sectors of society to increase the impact of publications.

La comunicación del conocimiento científico es parte fundamental del progreso de la ciencia y vital para la sociedad moderna. Así, las conferencias y congresos científicos son espacios cruciales para estos procesos de comunicación. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la comunicación de trabajos científicos en un congreso agrícola; de tal forma que se añade conocimiento a la literatura en tres vertientes: uso de datos, aplicación metodológica y evidencia empírica. Para hacer esto, analizamos 316 títulos de ponencias presentadas a lo largo de cinco años. Usamos dos enfoques metodológicos: data-mining y análisis de redes sociales (ARS). Los resultados muestran que en los 316 títulos se han utilizado 1,093 términos diferentes, siguiendo una distribución power-law. A través de una red de bi-gramas, se encontró que estos términos están unidos por 1,847 relaciones dirigidas. Además, con el ARS se identificaron las palabras más importantes según distintos indicadores. Se concluye que la información existente en los archivos de congresos científicos es rica en contenido y puede ser útil para encontrar brechas de conocimiento. Además, los enfoques utilizados se complementan entre sí. Este artículo proporciona evidencia técnica y empírica sobre el campo del network mining.
