ASYMMETRY OF BASINS AND LITHOSTRUCTURAL INFLUENCES ON THE GEOMORPHOLOGY OF FORMOSO RIVER, TO.
ABSTRACTThe studies of the fluvial channels through quantitative parameters and qualitative observations, can subsidize several discourses on morphogenesis and morphodynamics of the relief, considering the important role of the rivers in the evolution of the relief. Thus, the present study evaluated the aspects of asymmetry of Formoso catchment, Tocantins state, from the application of geomorphic parameters and lithostructural and geomorphological analysis. For this purpose, was used satellite images and regional geological mapping data. The data was processed using Geoprocessing systems together with field observations. The results indicate that the basin is based on granulitic complexes, moving bands and extensive sedimentary coverages. The Formoso river is of the eighth order, with an area of 21,593 km² and 20,628 km of streams. The geomorphic indexes were applied: Drainage Basin Asymmetry Factor (FABD) and Transverse Topographic Symmetry Factor (FSTT). The basin has 76% of area to the right of the main channel, an area with predominantly gently undulating and strongly undulating reliefs. The ground deep is higher in the middle and lower courses, towards the Bananal Sedimentary Basin. The approach assumed in this work was adequate for the understanding of the relief of areas with recent tectonics.
