“…The biogenic sediments of the Potiguar Basin present more diverse and dominant species belonging to the Miliolina (imperforate shells) and Rotaliina (perforated shells) suborders and species with lower dominance belonging to the Textularina suborder (agglutinated), reflecting changes in environmental parameters in this dynamic region. The robust taxonomic composition of the shells from this region indicates high resistance of them, which tolerate salting and dragging and wear to a lesser extent than the binders (Murray, 1991;Araujo & Machado, 2008) and are resistant to wear and tear by transport and dissolution (Bruno et al, 2009;Moraes & Machado, 2001). Some brown colored ones also show signs of abrasion, such as fragmentation and even a yellowish coloration.…”
