RESUMOIntrodução: O zumbido vem se tornando uma queixa otológica frequente. Outra queixa que é encontrada em portadores de zumbido é a hiperacusia. Objetivo: Analisar as características do zumbido e da hiperacusia em indivíduos normo-ouvintes com queixa associada de zumbido e hiperacusia. Método: 25 indivíduos normo-ouvintes que apresentaram queixas de hiperacusia e zumbido foram pesquisados nesta forma de estudo transversal.Questionou-se sobre a localização e o tipo do zumbido. Utilizou-se o Tinnitus Handicap Inventory brasileiro e a acufenometria para avaliação do zumbido. Foi elaborado um questionário sobre hiperacusia abordando aspectos como: sons considerados desconfortáveis, sensações na presença desses sons e dificuldade de compreensão de fala no ruído. Resultados: Dos 25 indivíduos, 64% eram mulheres e 36% homens. Em relação ao zumbido, 84% referiram localização bilateral e 80% pitch agudo. O grau mais encontrado foi o leve (44%). As mulheres apresentaram grau de zumbido estatisticamente superior ao dos homens. Os sons de forte intensidade e as reações de irritação, ansiedade, necessidade de afastar-se do som foram mais citadas. Dos indivíduos analisados, 68% referiram dificuldade de compreensão de fala no ruído e 12% relataram usar protetores auriculares. As frequências mais encontradas na acufenometria foram 6 e 8 KHz. Conclusão: Indivíduos normo-ouvintes com queixa de zumbido e hiperacusia apresentaram predomínio de zumbido de pitch agudo, localização bilateral e grau leve. Os sons considerados desconfortáveis foram os de forte intensidade e a reação aos sons mais citada foi à irritação. A dificuldade de compreensão de fala no ruído foi referida pela maioria dos indivíduos. Palavras-chave: audição, zumbido, hiperacusia, questionários. SUMMARYIntroduction: The tinnitus has become a common otological complaint. Another complaint is found in bearers of the tinnitus is the hyperacusis. Objective: Analyze the characteristics of tinnitus and hyperacusis in normal hearing individuals with associated complaints of tinnitus and hyperacusis. Method: 25 normal hearing individuals who complained of hyperacusis and tinnitus were surveyed in this form of crosssectional study. They were questioned about the location and type of the tinnitus. The evaluation of the tinnitus was made using the Brazilian Tinnitus Handicap Inventory and acuphenometry. A questionnaire was made about the hyperacusis covering aspects such as: sounds considered uncomfortable, sensations in the presence of such sounds, and difficulty understanding speech in noise. Results: Of the 25 individuals, 64% were women and 36% men. Regarding tinnitus, 84% referred to bilateral location and 80% high pitch. The most common degree found was light (44%). The women presented tinnitus degree statistically superior to those of men. Introduction:The correlation between hearing loss with tinnitus can be justified if we consider that this is a tinnituscausing factor, since the impairments or degenerations on the inner ear and the vestibulocochlear nerve can cause the tinnitus. According to different reports, 85%-96% of patients with tinnitus show some degree of hearing loss. Objective:To correlate the sex, age, degree and type of hearing loss with the tinnitus disorder in patients at the Electronic Devices-related Clinic of Deafness). Method:Retrospective study of exploratory nature in 100 individuals' records duly registered at the Phonoaudiology Clinic of University of São Paulo's Dentistry School in Bauru FOB/USP, by using the THI instrument (Tinnitus Handicap Inventory). Results and Conclusion: Sex, age and degree of hearing loss do not have an influence over the tinnitus disorder, but the hearing loss in tinnitus listeners is progressively bigger according to age and in individual with neurosensorial hearing loss. RESUMOIntrodução: A correlação da perda auditiva com o zumbido pode ser justificada se considerarmos que esta é o fator desencadeante do zumbido, uma vez que danos ou degenerações da orelha interna e do nervo vestibulococlear podem ser geradores do zumbido. Segundo os diferentes relatos, 85 a 96% dos pacientes com zumbido apresentam algum grau de perda auditiva. Objetivo: Correlacionar o sexo, idade, grau e tipo de perda auditiva com o incômodo ocasionado pela presença do zumbido dos pacientes da clínica de Dispositivos Eletrônicos Aplicados a Surdez. Método: Estudo retrospectivo de natureza exploratória de 100 prontuários de indivíduos regularmente matriculados na Clínica de Fonoaudiologia da Faculdade de Odontologia de Bauru, Universidade de São Paulo FOB/USP com uso do instrumento THI (Tinnitus Handicap Inventory). Resultados e Conclusão:O sexo, a idade assim como o grau de perda auditiva não possuem influência sobre o incômodo gerado pelo zumbido, porém a ocorrência da perda auditiva em portadores de zumbido é progressivamente maior conforme o avanço da idade e em indivíduos com perda auditiva do tipo sensorioneural. Purpose: To assess the degree of annoyance of tinnitus through the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) and correlate it with the perception of speech using the Hearing in Noise Test (HINT) before and after the fitting of a hearing aid (HA). Methods: There were 27 patients with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, continuous bilateral tinnitus (minimum six months) without experience of amplification. The subjects answered the anamnesis, the THI questionnaire, underwent a HINT, were fitted with hearing aids, and were again evaluated after three months. The results were statistically analyzed. Results: Pre and post THI adaptation of hearing aids indicated benefits from amplification in relation to decreased sensation of tinnitus. The pre and post HINT adaptation of hearing aids presented a significant difference. There were differences in the correlation between the THI and HINT before the fitting of the hearing aids. Conclusion: There was an improvement in the degree of tinnitus annoyance after the fitting of the hearing aids. There was no significant correlation between speech perception before and after the use of hearing aids. Resultados: O THI pré e pós-adaptação de AASI indicou benefício com amplificação em relação à diminuição da sensação do zumbido. O HINT pré e pós-adaptação de AASI não obteve diferença significativa. Houve diferença na correlação do THI e HINT antes da adaptação do AASI. Conclusão: Houve melhora em relação ao grau de incômodo do zumbido, após a adaptação do AASI. Não houve correlação significativa entre a percepção de fala, antes e após a utilização do AASI. Keywords
