Anaerobic Digestion Treatment for the Mixture of Chinese Cabbage Waste Juice and Swine Manure

Abstract: Purpose:The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility of anaerobic digestion of Chinese cabbage waste juice (CCWJ) and swine manure(SM). Methods: The anaerobic digestion test was conducted under batch and continuous conditions at mesophilic temperature (36-38℃). The batch test was divided into Experiment I and II. In the Experiment I, biogas potential and production rate of CCWJ was evaluated. In Experiment II the effect of F/M ratio (2.0, 3.2, 4.9) at mixture ratio of 25:75(CCWJ: SM, % vol. b… Show more

“…The pressure was measured using a WAL-BMP-Test system pressure gauge (Type 3150, Wal, Germany) . The methane concentration (CH 4 , %) and carbon dioxide concentration (CO 2 , %) in the biogas were measured using a gas analyser (BioGas Check, Geotechnical Instruments [UK], Ltd.) (Kafle et al, 2012a;Kafle and Kim, 2011). The CH 4 and CO 2 % were measured using a dual-wavelength infrared cell with a reference channel.…”

“…The GC was calibrated using standard gases consisting of CH 4 60% and CO 2 40% on a volume basis (v/v). The hydrogen sulfide concentration in the biogas was measured using a handy gas analyzer (BioGas Check -Geotechnical Instruments, UK) (Kafle et al, 2012a). The measured wet biogas and methane volumes were adjusted to the volumes at standard temperature (0℃) and pressure (1 atm) (VDI 4630, 2006).…”

“…pH value was determined using a pH meter (YK-2001 PH, Taiwan) (Kafle and Kim, 2012a;Kafle and Kim, 2012b).The analysis of crude fiber (CF), CP, and Ether extract (EE) were done according to the methods described in AOAC (1990). The total volatile fatty acids (TVFA), total alkalinity (TA) were determined using the Nordmann-titration method (Kafle and Kim, 2011;Kafle et al, 2012;Kim and Kafle, 2010).…”
