An update to the taxonomy of some Western Australian genera of Myrtaceae tribe Chamelaucieae. 1. Calytrix

Abstract: B.L. Rye. An update to the taxonomy of some Western Australian genera of Myrtaceae tribe Chamelaucieae. 1. Calytrix. Nuytsia 23: 483-501 (2013). Calytrix watsonii (F.Muell. & Tate) C.A.Gardner is reinstated and four species with conservation priority are described: C. hislopii Rye, C. patrickiae Rye, C. sagei Rye and C. viscida Rye. Keys are given for the species groups that include these taxa. The current study has eliminated about half of the informal names that have been in use for Western Australian member… Show more

“…Recombinations were made in Rye (2015a) for three named species of Hysterobaeckea but most of the Western Australian taxa remained undescribed. Eleven new Western Australian members of the genus are described here, using the same methodology as in previous papers of this series (see Rye 2013b).…”

“…is an endemic Australian genus comprising c. 90 species distributed throughout Australia, with centres of species richness in northern and south-western Australia (Craven 1987). The most recent revision of the genus was completed by Craven (1987), following which nine new species have been described and named by various authors (Craven 1990(Craven , 1991Keighery 2004;Barrett et al 2009;Rye 2013). Six informal phrase-named taxa belonging to two species complexes within the genus are currently recognised in Western Australia (Western Australian Herbarium 1998-); four of these are assigned to the C. acutifolia (Lindl.)…”

“…This paper on Malleostemon J.W.Green is the fourth in a series describing new species of Myrtaceae tribe Chamelaucieae DC. As explained in the first paper of the series (Rye 2013b), the aim is to name any clearly defined new species that are typical of the genus under study and have sufficient collections to allow a full description, while drawing attention to any taxa needing further investigation.…”

“…Seven new species of Malleostemon are described here and a key is given to all 14 species that have been named for the genus to date. Methods are similar to those given in Rye (2013b).…”
