An update comprehensive review on the status of COVID-19: vaccines, drugs, variants and neurological symptoms

Abstract: Various recently reported mutant variants, candidate and urgently approved current vaccines against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), many current situations with severe neurological damage and symptoms as well as respiratory tract disorders have begun to be reported. In particular, drug, vaccine, and neutralizing monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have been developed and are currently being evaluated in clinical trials. Here, we review lessons learned from the use of novel mutant variant… Show more

“…However, early hopes of a fully effective vaccine were soon blighted, following the discovery of new variants of the virus, neurological diseases, and other symptoms and long-term effects reported in COVID-19 patients. In light of these emerging developments, the potential for the pandemic to reach uncontrollable levels was also talked 2 of 19 of [4]. Much has been revealed about SARS-CoV-2 through scientific research, which has subsequently led to unprecedented scientific progress in the development of COVID-19 vaccines.…”

“…11 Whilst vaccination and treatment were being delivered, several COVID-19 mutant strains with increased virulence and decreased vaccine sensitivity arose. 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 In 2022, the infection rate was much greater. 11 More fetal and infectious strains continued to proliferate.…”

“…This is because RNA polymerases do not have any proofreading ability. Many variants of SARS-CoV-2 have been reported, some of them are variants of interest (VOI) and others are variants of concern (VOC) [3,7]. The emergence of new variants is the reason due to which the effectiveness of various vaccines is decreasing [8].…”
