An update about plant growth promoting Streptomyces species

Abstract: Beneficial microorganisms have profound positive impacts on various human activities, including medicinal, pharmaceutical, and other biotechnological applications. This review provides an update about the potential of Streptomyces species as promising plant promoters because of their various roles as biofertilizers, biostimulators, biocontrol agents, and bioremediates. It also briefs the numerous mechanisms tackled by Streptomyces species, including the synthesis of plant growth regulators, siderophore product… Show more

“…The illustration below (Figure 5) conceptually summarizes the virtues of Streptomyces spp consortium on good Vicia Faba L plant growth. In another study done by Pang et al [231] , substances discharged from Streptomyces coelicolor, Streptomyces violaceusniger, and Streptomyces violaceusniger strains, including siderophore, chitinase, antifungal nigericin, and antibiotic geldanamycin [234] , regulate stress metabolite and control hyphal development. While Streptomyces has been used successfully for biocontrol, one notable case is with rice plants [235] .…”

“…A variety of microbial groups grow and interact with roots in the rhizosphere due to the presence of nutrients secreted by plant roots. Root exudates are a group of soluble organic substances synthesized and released by roots, including amino acids, sugars, growth factors, and enzymes [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]. These nutrients shape the abundance and composition of microbes around plant roots.…”
