The journals which had published the dental trauma‐related articles in that period were the American Journal of Dental Sciences, Dental Cosmos, Journal of Dental Research, Journal of the American Dental Association, Glasgow Medical Journal, Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine, British Dental Journal, Dental Items International and American Journal of Orthodontics and Oral Surgery 12–44 …”

“…Although the treatment protocols before the work of Dr J O Andreasen 4 and other researchers are often believed to be unorganized and less conservative, this scoping review found some interesting excerpts which might have motivated the researchers in the later part of the 20th century. Authors such as Burton (1872), 12 Prideaux (1910), 15 Payne (1912), 16 Turner (1914), 17 Heyman (1922) 18 and Jensen (1934) 32 tried to explain their clinical and/or radiographic findings through justifications based upon the stages of tooth development or healing mechanisms. Several others such as Malleson (1923), 19 Boulger (1928), 23 Figg (1928), 24 Kronfeld (1931, 1936), 28,33 Aisenberg (1932), 29 Claflin (1938), 35 Coolidge (1938) 36 and Bevelander (1942) 40 assessed samples of extracted traumatized teeth or animal samples to explain the healing of root fractures.…”
