The present paper investigates the impact of pollution information transparency index (PITI) on eco-efficiency using a novel panel dataset covering 109 key environmental protection prefecture-level cities in China over the period [2008][2009][2010][2011][2012][2013][2014][2015]. We apply an extended data envelopment analysis (DEA) model, simultaneously incorporating metafrontier, undesirable outputs and super efficiency into slack-based measure (Meta-US-SBM) to estimate eco-efficiency. Then, the bootstrap Granger causality approach is utilized to test the unidirectional Granger causal relationship running from PITI to eco-efficiency. Results of DEA model show that there exist significant spatiotemporal disparities of eco-efficiency, on average, the eco-efficiency in eastern region is relative higher than those of central/western region. Estimates of ordinary least square (OLS) method, quantile regression, and spatial Durbin model document that the evidence of an inverted-U-shaped relation between PITI and eco-efficiency is supported, and the turning points vary from 0.3370 to 0.4540 with different model specifications. Finally, supplementary analysis of panel threshold model also supports the robust findings. Policy implications are presented based on the empirical results.

This study provides new evidence on the levels of economic integration experienced by foreigners and naturalised immigrants relative to native Germans from 1994 to 2015. We decompose the wage gap using the method for unconditional quantile regression models by employing a regression of the (recentered) influence function (RIF) of the gross hourly wage on a rich set of explanatory variables. This approach enables us to estimate contributions made across the whole wage distribution. To allow for a detailed characterisation of labour market conditions, we consider a comprehensive set of socio-economic and labour-related aspects capturing influences of, e.g., human capital quality, cultural background, and the personalities of immigrants. The decomposition results clearly indicate a significant growing gap with higher wages for both foreigners (13.6 to 17.6%) and naturalised immigrants (10.0 to 16.4%). The findings further display a low explanation for the wage gap in low wage deciles that is even more pronounced within immigrant subgroups. Cultural and economic distances each correlate strongly with wages. A different appreciation of foreign educational qualifications, however, widens the wage gap substantially by 4.5%points on average. Moreover, we observe an indication of deterioration of immigrants’ human capital endowments over time relative to those of native Germans.

composante « Education » est très indispensable dans l'accomplissement de ce processus. La Banque Mondiale (2018) soutient que l'éducation contribue grandement à la réalisation de l'objectif d'éradication de l'extrême pauvreté et constitue un investissement aux retombées durables et illimitées. La liberté fondamentale d'éducation ne se limite pas à la liberté d'accès à l'éducation mais au droit à une éducation de qualité. Cette qualité renvoyant à l'apprentissage et l'acquisition des compétences justifie les dépenses d'éducation, constitue le levier véritable du capital humain et est le moteur principal du développement humain. En matière de développement humain, d'énormes progrès ont été réalisés dans le monde, l'Afrique Subsaharienne reste à la traine, particulièrement les pays francophones qui occupent des places peu flatteuses du classement de l'IDH. Cette contreperformance est due aux faibles avancées enregistrées dans le secteur de l'éducation où des millions d'enfants et de jeunes n'ont toujours pas accès à l'enseignement primaire et secondaire. Nombreux sont ceux qui peinent à acquérir des compétences de base. L'UNESCO (2018) démontre, qu'entre 2000 et 2012, des progrès ont été effectivement accomplis à travers l'Afrique subsaharienne. L'indice africain de développement de l'EPT a progressé durant cette période, mais le niveau d'indice de l'Afrique centrale et de l'Afrique de l'Ouest reste à un niveau moyen faible, respectivement de 56 et 50 contre un indice moyen africain de 57. Fort de ces deux constats, notre étude portera essentiellement sur les pays d'Afrique centrale et occidentale qui constituent l'ensemble des pays du programme d'analyse des systèmes éducatifs de la CONFEMEN (PASEC). Altinok (2015), démontrait déjà, dans une étude comparative, que les pays PASEC obtiennent de faibles résultats en matière d'apprentissage par rapport aux pays SACMEQ. De même, Sandefur (2018) priorise uniquement dans son analyse les données TIMSS en maths pour les pays SACMEQ. Malgré d'énormes efforts consentis par les gouvernements des pays PASEC ainsi que les résultats encourageants obtenus en matière de scolarisation, de nombreuses disparités n'ont pas permis d'atteindre les objectifs d'EPT. Pauvreté, genre, origine ethnique, handicaps et lieu d'habitation expliquent l'essentiel des disparités qui subsistent en matière d'éducation (
