An overview of wireless sensor network and its applications

Abstract:
Small devices that can sense and collect data from the surrounding environment have been produced with the rapid development of wireless technology and digital electronics. As a result, a wireless sensor network (WSN) was constructed from these sensor devices to send collected data to the base station for monitoring and analysis. This paper provides an overview of WSN, as well as its architecture and applications.

“…Also, they help human to have access and manage marine information in hostile environments. A group of autonomous underwater vehicles form a mobile underwater sensor network [4]. Unlike static underwater sensor network, autonomously operated underwater vehicles have long deployment time also they can sense large regions of the ocean because they can move in all directions [5].…”

“…The popularity and increased usage of wireless sensor network (WSN) for various remote applications makes the wireless sensor network as one of the emerging technologies of recent days [1]. The wireless sensor network comprised of sensor nodes connected via wireless technologies, and each sensor node is comprised of microcontroller, sensing unit, radio transceiver and limited power supply unit.…”

“…The gateway node collects the successive sensor reading (Xi>1) and compares with the predetermined cluster head CH1 of primary cluster C1. If the successive readings (Xi>1) distance measure Dist(Xi , Xi+1)=|(Xi -Xi+1)| is lesser than the predefined application based custom threshold of ε then the successive reading under consideration would be put into the first cluster as represented in (1).…”
