An Overview of the Theses and Dissertations Completed in Family and Consumer Sciences: 2001

Abstract: This article summarizes the 451 titles of theses and dissertations completed in family and consumer sciences in colleges and universities from all four regions of the United States in 2001. The tables represent the information by reporting institution and by subject matter.

“…Although 11% fewer theses and dissertations were reported in 2002 than in 2001 (Smith & Hunter, 2002), the universities reporting the highest number of titles accounted for 44% of the theses in 2002 and 2001, and 67% and 71% of the dissertations in 2001 and 2002, respectively (see Table 2).
