ABSTRAK Radang sendi atau Osteoartritis (OA) merupakan salah satu penyakit kronis yang paling sering terjadi pada orang dewasa. Penyakit ini termasuk penyakit degeneratif yang dapat menyebabkan nyeri, kekakuan dan kehilangan mobilitas pada sendi. Pengobatan konvensional meliputi penggunaan obat antiinflamasi nonsteroid (NSAID) diketahui memiliki efek samping yang tidak diinginkan dan dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup pasien. Pengobatan dengan tanaman herbal telah menjadi alternatif yang menarik untuk pengobatan konvensional. Tujuan dilakukan kegiatan Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai pemanfaatan tanaman herbal sebagai obat alterhatif OA sehingga dapat meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian yang dilakukan berupa penyuluhan dengan pre test dan post test, penyebaran kuisioner dan skriining kesehatan pada 40 orang wanita yang berumur 40-70 tahun. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi pretest dan post test dari kegiatan ini terdapat peningkatan terkait pengetahuan responden tentang pemanfaatan tanaman herbal (100%), minat menggunakan tanaman herbal (97%) dan budidaya tanaman herbal (100%) obat alternative OA. Sedangkan hasil skriining kesehatan menunjukkan bahwa nilai IMT (71%), tekanan darah (71%), kadar glukosa(55%), kolesterol (61%) dan Asam urat (40%) menunjukkan nilai rata-rata diatas normal. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan PPM efektif untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan tanaman herbal sebagai obat OA dan masyarakat juga menjadi lebih waspada akan kesehatannya. Kata Kunci: Sosialisasi, Radang Sendi, Tanaman Herbal ABSTRACT Arthritis or Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common chronic diseases in adults. This disease is a degenerative condition that can cause pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility in the joints. Conventional treatment involves the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are known to have unwanted side effects and can affect the patient's quality of life. Treatment with herbal plants has become an attractive alternative to conventional treatment. The purpose of this Community Service activity is to increase public knowledge about the use of herbal plants as an alternative medicine for OA, thus improving the quality of public health. The community service activities carried out were in the form of counseling with pre-test and post-test, distribution of questionnaires, and health screening on 40 women aged 40-70 years. Based on the pre-test and post-test evaluation results of this activity, there was an increase in respondents' knowledge about the use of herbal plants (100%), interest in using herbal plants (97%), and herbal plant cultivation (100%) as an alternative medicine for OA. Meanwhile, the health screening results showed that the BMI (71%), blood pressure (71%), glucose levels (55%), cholesterol (61%), and uric acid (40%) values were above the normal average. It can be concluded that the community service activity was effective in increasing public knowledge about the use of herbal plants as an alternative medicine for OA, and the public also became more aware of their health. Osteoarthritis is a chronic global and musculoskeletal disorder. This disease is associated with reduced articular cartilage integrity. The most commonly affected joint is the knee, followed by the hand and the hip. Knee osteoarthritis is associated with aging, obesity, articular cartilage, fatigue, trauma, and congenital joint deformities. Excess body weight is a factor that will exacerbate osteoarthritis. There are still meta-analysis studies involving cohort and case-control studies on osteoarthritis and body mass index (BMI) available, but the relationship between the two variables is still not assessed quantitatively. In addition, research on knee osteoarthritis and BMI is still limited, particularly at Baptis Hospital, where it has never been done. As a result, this study was carried out to determine the relationship between BMI and the degree of knee osteoarthritis. This retrospective cross-sectional study involved 33 patients who suffered from knee osteoarthritis. Data were collected from medical records, and the Kellgren-Lawrence system to assess the degree of knee osteoarthritis based on radiology findings. A total of 7 patients (21.2%) suffered from osteoarthritis grade 1, 10 patients (30.3%) had degree 2, 15 patients (45.5%) had degree 3, and one patient had degree 4. The Spearman correlation test showed that there was no significant relationship (p>0.05). So, it can be concluded from this study that there was no correlation between BMI and the degree of knee osteoarthritis patients at Baptis Hospital, Batu City.

Background and objective: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a more common disease that effects the joints in the world and it is more prevalent with increasing age, and is most common in old people. Quality of life (QoL) is defined as a set of values and culture that is aligned with an individual's aim and in accordance with their expectations, living standards, and hobbies. This work aimed to review the literature measured on QoL and the relationship of its variables with osteoarthritis. Method: These articles are introduce depending on random electronic research that take place in certain databases like MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane. Only published works for the last twelve years between 2010 and 2022 years were included. Result: Only 20 published works were included after abstract screening. The OA is one of the chronic diseases that affect QoL in term of disability, loss of physical activity, impair daily activity, and loss of social life. The WHOQOL and WHOQOL-BRIF are more appropriate to detect the QoL. The body mass index is one of the importance indices related to the patients with osteoarthritis. Conclusion:OA is affecting the QoL and common in elderly female. They are many scales for detect the QoL, they are either related to the global QoL as in WHOQOL and WHOQOL-BRIF or to the health QoL. The global scales are more significant and valid in dealing with QoL in chronic disease.
