“…According to the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) [ 4 ], a major depressive episode is defined as a period of 2 weeks or longer during which there is either depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure (i.e., anhedonia) and four additional symptoms reflecting changes in activity, e.g., psychomotor agitation, retardation or fatigue, change in sleep patterns and suicidality.
