In order to study the effects of different concentrations of sulfate on the strength of fly ash-based coal mine filling paste, using variable control, mechanical analysis, and other means, the changes in the uniaxial compressive strengths of filling paste blocks soaked in different concentrations of sodium sulfate solution for different durations are studied, and their stress-strain curves are discussed. e hydrated products of each block are analyzed at different stages by XRD, and the results indicate that different concentrations of sodium sulfate solution have different effects on the strength of the filling paste after soaking for different durations. A sodium sulfate solution with a concentration of 5% had an activator effect on the fly ash-based filling paste and enhanced the strength of the filling paste. A sodium sulfate solution with a concentration of 10% and 15% increased the early strength of the paste test block faster, but after 60 d, the strength decreased. e stress-strain curves for these blocks show that the elastic moduli of the filling paste test blocks change irregularly, and it was found that with the increase in soaking time, the blocks soaked in the 10% and 15% sodium sulfate solutions developed fissures in the later stage that adversely affected the strength of the filling paste. e XRD results show that the filling paste test block hydration products are hydrated calcium silicate (C-S-H) based and that ettringite (AFt), beneficial to strength of the filling paste in proper quantities, appeared in the main product of the filling paste test blocks that were soaked in the sodium sulfate solution. With the increase in the concentration of the sodium sulfate solution, the AFt is generated in larger quantities, and gypsum crystals begin to appear, which is not conducive to the filling paste block strength.

The stability control of surrounding rock for a large or super‐large section chamber group is a difficult technical problem in deep mining conditions, and this stability control has become one of the most important factors restricting the safety of a large‐scale coal mine. Based on the in‐site geological conditions of a super‐large section chamber group that functions for a coal gangues separation system in the Longgu Coal Mine, we first researched the stress, deformation, and failure characteristics of the in‐site chamber group surrounding rocks by using the FLAC3D software. Simulation results showed that the maximum vertical stress, deformation, and failure range of the surrounding rock for a super‐large section chamber group are larger than those of an ordinary section chamber. In addition, the roof subsidence and the plastic zone radius at the intersection are obviously larger than that of other parts, which increase by approximately 50.8% and 44.4%, respectively. Therefore, the chamber group intersection should be taken as the key area for surrounding rock control. Then, the influences of two key parameters of the chamber group, spacing and angle, were researched in detail to help in the design of the chamber group. Results show that when the chamber spacing is 80 m, the interaction begins to occur. When the angle is 70°, the stress of the surrounding rock and roof subsidence reach the minimum. Thus, the optimum chamber group parameters are determined to be a spacing of 80 m and an angle of 70°. Finally, from the perspective of chamber group stability, the optimal chamber group parameters can better meet the normal use for the super‐large section chamber group. This research provides a reference for the design of a super‐large section chamber group under the same or similar conditions and provides a strategy for controlling the surrounding rock.

A New Thin Seam Backfill Mining Technology and Its Application

Abstract:Backfill mining is an effective way to control ground subsidence and govern gangue. To solve the problem of thin coal seam mining under villages, a new thin seam backfill mining technology was proposed. This paper investigated a reasonable proportion of filling materials by experiments, designed the filling system and introduced key technologies for thin seam working face filling. Finally, an industrial test of thin seam backfill mining technology was carried out in the C1661 working face, Beixu Coal Mine. The results show that the developed filling material meets both the pumping liquidity and strength requirements of the filling body during the early and late stages. The design and equipment selection of the paste filling system were reasonable. By using the key technologies for thin seam working face filling, the time needed for working face filling, the connection and disconnection of the filling pipeline and gob-side entry retaining were all greatly shortened. The labor intensity of the workers was reduced, and the mechanization level of the mine was improved. A fill mining length of 480 m was successfully completed. With effective roof subsidence control, the ground subsidence can be reduced, and good results can be achieved. This study can contribute to the development of backfill mining in thin coal seams.
