An outsider’s perspective on information recovery in de Sitter space

Abstract: Entanglement islands play a crucial role in our understanding of how Hawking radiation encodes information in a black hole, but their relevance in cosmological spacetimes is less clear. In this paper, we continue our investigation of information recovery in de Sitter space and construct a two-dimensional model of gravity containing a domain wall that interpolates between de Sitter space and Rindler space. The Rindler wedges introduce weakly-gravitating asymptotic regions from which de Sitter space can be probe… Show more

“…In addition, beyond some finite time, that we quantified analytically in D = 4 and D = 5, either the interior or the exterior spacelike geodesic disappears and one expects a phase transition that introduces complex geodesics (labeled by complex E) connecting static sphere observers. We expect this to play an important role in a geodesic approximation to the correlator [32,37,40].…”

“…times) on the two poles. Instead, as shown in [37,40], one needs to introduce complex geodesics in order to connect symmetric points on the north and south pole lying that are not located at τ = 0. This ends our introduction.…”

“…See other recent proposals in [118][119][120][121][122]. Quantum extremal surfaces in the context of dS have also been actively studied recently [123][124][125][126][127][128][129], but it is fair to say that compared to the black hole case (see [130] for current state of affairs), the case of the cosmological horizon is still pretty much under development.…”

“…Further studies on entanglement islands in cosmological settings include[105][106][107][108][109][110][111][112] 10. More precisely, this transition was later understood to diagnose the mass gap, rather than a true confinement-deconfinement transition[114].…”
