Abstract: Sympathetic preganglionic neurons are functionally specialised, each belonging to one of a limited number of functional classes (e.g. muscle vasoconstrictor, cutaneous vasoconstrictor, sudomotor). How far this functional specificity applies to the premotor neurons that drive them is uncertain.
