An optimized transmission scheme for UMTS streaming services

Abstract

Abslracf-In this paper, the performances of the streaming sedice and radio usage efficiency by applying the link layer acknowledged mode and the proposed transmission scheme in UMTS are presented. The analytical result shows that this scheme can distinctly improve radio usage efficiency at the same packet loss ratio requirement of the application layer. According to the simulation results, the playout delay and jitter introduced by the packet retransmission are ignorable when the receiver buffers the streaming service packets.
