An Open Source Framework Approach to Support Condition Monitoring and Maintenance

Abstract: This paper discusses the integration of emergent ICTs, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), the Arrowhead Framework, and the best practices from the area of condition monitoring and maintenance. These technologies are applied, for instance, for roller element bearing fault diagnostics and analysis by simulating faults. The authors first undertook the leading industry standards for condition-based maintenance (CBM), i.e., open system architecture–condition-based maintenance (OSA–CBM) and Machinery Information … Show more

“…Such information is collected, locally processed and formulated, and then transferred to the central part of the monitoring system where further processing of the collected data is performed. Complex methods and algorithms for the analysis, processing and storage of collected data are available in the central part of the system for monitoring and processing collected information [27,28]. Figure 2 shows specific CBM steps.…”

“…It is also recognized [112] that the model-driven development could support the safety run-time, of which the approach is also implemented by SoSLM. Furthermore, [113] have identified the critical role-and based on the advantages-of effective maintenance. Here, the SoSLM model helps in the aspect of necessary development that must be implemented if there is any change in the system's serving infrastructure.…”

“…The Arrowhead framework has been attracting academic attention for enabling IoT interoperability in between almost any IoT elements. Campos et al [8] propose and implement the integration of IoT devices with the Arrowhead framework in the domain of industrial maintenance engineering. Campos-Rebelo et al [9] propose a transparent protocol translator i.e.…”
