“…In the original validation study with a sample of 58 clinically depressed adults and 38 healthy controls, the ASEX was observed to be internally consistent (Cronbach's alpha ¼ .91) and reliable (test-retest r ¼ .80), and to be a sensitive and specific predictor of sexual dysfunction (sensitivity ¼ 82%; specificity ¼ 90%) . The ASEX also has been observed to effectively measure change in the severity of sexual dysfunction over time (Davidson et al, 2004;Gelenberg et al, 2000;Goldstein et al, 2004;Mathias et al, 2006;Nurnberg et al, 2003;Soykan, 2004). For the present sample, Cronbach's alpha ¼ .87.…”

“…The ASEX scale has performed in many studies to measure five specific items identified as the core elements of sexual function: sexual drive, arousal, penile erection/vaginal lubrication, ability to reach orgasm, and satisfaction from orgasm [5,28,29]. The most important deficiency of ASEX scale is that dyspareunia is not taken into account in evaluation of the sexual functions [17].…”
