“…Further in vitro and rat calvarial studies have shown that compounds isolated from CO appear to have antiosteoporotic properties, including the promotion of osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, increased bone-forming activity, and the inhibition of osteoclastic bone resorption. The bioactive compounds isolated from MO include novel homogeneous polysaccharides, COP90-1 and COP70-3, and phenolic glycosides (Jiao et al, 2009; Wang et al, 2013b; Wang et al, 2017c; Wang et al, 2019b).…”

“…It has been well‐established that autophagy plays an imperative role in the promotion of metabolic disorders such as diabetes, so we got interested in scrutinize the expression and modulation of autophagy signaling factors in STZ‐treated Rin‐5F cells exposed upon RCO. Antimicrobial, hypolipidemic, anti‐osteoporosis, immunomodulating, antioxidant, and anticancer activities as well as, modulation of several diseases through alteration of gut microbiota have been widely attributed to polysaccharides and oligosaccharides extracted from several sources from bacteria, fungal, and herbs (Lim, Yu, Kim, & Chung, 2016; Neyrinck et al., 2012; Ru et al., 2019; Wang, Zhang, Zhang, Wang, & Yan, 2017; Wang et al., 2019; Yang, Hsieh, Wen, Chiu, & Lin, 2017; Yu et al., 2013; Zheng et al., 2018; Zhu, Xue, & Zhang, 2016). There is increasing evidence that isolated polysaccharides have also been involved in the treatment of diabetes (Wang, Wang, et al, 2017; Wang, Wang, et al, 2017; Zhang, Huang, Hong, & Chen, 2019; Zhang et al., 2017).…”

“…SEM and Congo red analysis showed that COP90-1 was homogeneous with an inerratic ellipsoid shape instead of triple-helix structure. In vitro, COP90-1 effectively promoted the proliferation and differentiation of primary osteoblasts [ 33 ]. Two years later, Wang et al (2019) isolated and purified a novel homogeneous heteropolysaccharide COP70-3 ( 2 ) with a main backbone chain of (1→5)-linked α- l -Araf, (1,3→5)-linked α- l -Araf, (1→6)-linked β- d -Galp, (1→4)-linked β- d -Manp, (1,2→5)-linked α- l -Araf, (1→3)-linked β- l -Rhap, (1,3→6)-linked β- d -Manp, (1→3)-linked α- d -GalpA, (1,3→6)-linked β- d -Galp and (1→6)-linked α- d -Glcp residues.…”

“…Beside the curculigoside ( 32 ), other compounds with anti-osteoporosis obtained from the plants of genus Curculigo activity were also documented. From the rhizomes of C. orchioides, Wang et al (2017, 2019) isolated two polysaccharides as COP90-1 ( 1 ) and COP70-3 ( 2 ), and both 1 and 2 displayed anti-osteoporosis activities in vitro [ 33 , 34 ]. Wang et al (2013; 2014; 2018) reported that nine chlorophenolic glucosides, curculigine E-G, I, and K–O ( 8 – 10 , 12 and 14 – 18 ), displayed anti-osteoporosis by increasing the proliferation rate by 10.1%–15.9% in MC3T3-E1 cells [ 44 , 45 , 46 ].…”
