An N = 2 superconformal fixed point with E6 global symmetry

Abstract: We obtain the elliptic curve corresponding to an N = 2 superconformal field theory which has an E 6 global symmetry at the strong coupling point τ = e πi/3 . We also find the Seiberg-Witten differential λ SW for this theory. This differential has 27 poles corresponding to the fundamental representation of E 6 . The complex conjugate representation has its poles on the other sheet. We also show that the E 6 curve reduces to the D 4 curve of Seiberg andWitten. Finally, we compute the monodromies and use these to… Show more

“…We demonstrate this explicitly for N = 1 SQCD and N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory for all classical gauge groups. We also apply this technique to the superconformal index of N = 2 nonlagrangian theory with E 6 flavour symmetry that arises in the context of ArgyresSeiberg duality [29][30][31].…”

“…This sector is a superconformal theory with an E 6 flavour symmetry [30]. While the superconformal index of such a theory cannot be written down by conventional means, the problem was circumvented in [31] in an elegant manner by employing mathematical techniques developed in [44].…”

“…The superconformal R-symmetry is an accidental symmetry at the infrared fixed point, so we do not have any effective means of calculating the 't Hooft anomalies in the language of the four dimensional field theory. For the 7-brane of type E n , the corresponding SCFTs on a single D3-brane were first discussed in [9,10] and were studied shortly thereafter in detail by [11,12]. A purely field-theoretical construction of these theories was not known until quite recently when the paper [15] appeared, which motivated us to re-analyze these theories.…”
