The production of gedong gincu mango tends to be abundant lead to the selling price could decrease. Mango farmers in Jatibarang Sub-district had implemented off season farming as a solution to maintain the availability of mango production throughout the year which would have implications on the rising selling price. The behavior of farmers in on and off season could be different that may affect the cost, sale price and income of farmers. This study aims to analyze the differences behavior gedong gincu mango farmers in on and off season as well as its effect on their income. This research was conducted using survey method. The data analysis used a descriptive statistic, Mann Whitney tests and income analysis. The results showed no difference in farmers’ behavior in terms of fertilization and pruning frequency. Farmers in Jatibarang Sub-district as a whole have implemented off season farming so that there are differences in behavior in terms of the spraying frequency and applying paclobutrazol. Off season farming was more profitable than on season farming, with the average selling price reached IDR 25,200 per kg and average income of IDR 52,680,594. Therefore, off season farming could be an option to increase farmers’ income

Electricity tariffs charged by the South African electricity supplier (Eskom) have sharply increased over the past three years and there is no indication of what to expect in the future with regard to electricity tariffs. Many South Africans are searching for ways to save on their monthly electricity bills by seeking out alternative water heating systems. The purpose of this study is to determine the most financially viable alternative water heating system for a household in South Africa using various investment appraisal techniques and taking into consideration the size of the household. The study found that the five investment options identified in the literature review would all, to some extent, be financially viable to implement within households with high, as well as low, volume hot water consumption. Although some of the water heating systems were found to be more financially viable than others, the conclusion was made that a savings will be generated on the monthly electricity bill no matter what alternative water heating system was to be installed in the place of a conventional geyser.

ÖZET u araştırmada, İzmir'in Selçuk ilçesindeki şeftali bahçelerinin gelir yöntemine göre ağaç ve arazi değerleri saptanmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri oransal örnekleme ile kapsama alınan 86 üreticiden anket yöntemiyle derlenmiştir. Araştırma yöresinde ortalama kapitalizasyon oranı %5.75 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Şeftali bahçelerinin değerlemesinde ise %6 ve %7 oranları esas alınarak hesaplamalar yapılmış ve sonuçlar karşılaştırmalı verilmiştir. Şeftali bahçelerinin çıplak arazi değerleri kapitalizasyon oranı %6 alındığında 5758.24 TL/da, %7 alındığında 4546.42 TL/da olarak hesaplanmıştır. Araştırmada 5, 10, 15 yaşlarındaki bahçelerin ağaç ve arazi değerleri saptanmıştır. Bu aşamada ise geçmiş değerler yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Ağaç değerlerinin saptanmasında önce ağaçlı değerden çıplak arazi değeri çıkarılmış, daha sonra bulunan değer dekara düşen ağaç sayısına oranlanmıştır. ABSTRACT n this research, tree and land values of peach orchards in Selçuk district ofIzmir have been determined by the income capitalization approach. Data was collected by survey from 86 farmers who were determined by proportional sampling. The average capitalization rate for the research region was calculated as 5.75%. But, 6% and 7% capitalization rates were used for the calculation of the values of peach orchards and comparing the results. Land value without tree of peach orchards was calculated as 5758.24 TL/da and 4546.42 TL/da in 6% and 7% capitalization rates, respectively. Tree and land values for 5, 10 and 15 ages of peach orchards were determined. At this stage, the past values approach was used. In calculation of tree values, firstly the land value without tree was deducted from land value with tree, then this value was divided to the number of trees in decare.
