The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and canopy temperature that affects the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon in Mueang Maha Sarakham Municipality. The operational methods were divided into three main steps: 1) Analyzing NDVI by using Landsat 8 OLI satellite data 2) Monitoring canopy temperature with mobile traverses installed with digital thermometer and auto-record GPS receiver 3) Analyzing the relationship between NDVI and canopy temperature that passed through the spatial interpolation process using the kriging method. The results of the operational methods indicated that the trend of average atmospheric temperature in the urban area was higher than the outer area. Mueang Maha Sarakham Municipality had the highest UHI in the atmosphere at 4.65 o C. And from the buffer zone with a distance of 800 m around the centroid point, the highest UHI in the atmosphere was 5.08 o C. From the regression analysis between NDVI and the atmospheric temperature, it could be found a negative relationship between the data with a significance level of 0.01 and the decision coefficient (R 2) of 0.9392. This can be explained that if the area from the buffer zone decreased towards the centroid point, the value of NDVI decreased as well. In addition, when the equation set from the regression analysis was brought to predict the difference in atmospheric temperature in the area of Mueang Maha Sarakham Municipality and the surrounding area, the UHI sizes at all periods (16.00-20.00 hrs.) increased in accordance with the decreases of NDVI values. Meanwhile, considering the tendency between the changes in UHI size in the atmosphere in each period and NDVI values with the polynomial regression analysis (degree 4), it was found that the maximum formation of UHI was during 18.00-19.00 hrs.'. The decreases in NDVI values resulted in a higher UHI size in each period. In addition, when the NDVI values in Mueang Maha Sarakham Municipality were less than 0.302, the largest size of UHI in the atmosphere will change at the time approaching 19.00 hrs.

Peat ecosystems play a very important role in controlling global climate stability. Massive channel development in the peatland ecosystem can have an impact on excessive drying of peatland, which is caused by increased water flow rate and decreased water-saving power in the peat region and implicates the increased oxidation, and the vulnerability of fire hazards which contribute to the disaster of climate change. Recovery of degraded and drained peat can be done by building peat rewetting infrastructure, one of which is canal blocking. This study aims to utilize bio-waste material namely coconut fiber waste (CFW) for composite panels for canal block modules. This research was carried out using the hand lay-up method, with composite compositions in the form of polyester, fiberglass, wire mesh, and coconut fiber. The results showed that the composition of the type C composite panel samples had a density value of 0.0853 gr/cm 3 , the moisture content value was only 0.16%, thickness swelling was only 0.11%, and the length swelling was only 0.01%, better than other samples. Besides, the type C composite panel sample is also better, with a modulus of rupture (MoR) of 21.845 kgf/ mm 2 , modulus of elasticity (MoE) value of 78.057 kgf/mm 2 , and impact energy 79.66 Joules. It is expected that coconut fiber waste can be processed and used optimally as a bio-waste for canal block in preventing fire hazards (disaster climate change).

Climate change has worsened and has widespread impact. This is partly due to the release of greenhouse gases from human activities, which cause the greenhouse effect. This leads to the global temperature rising to an unusual level, otherwise known as global warming. This study aimed to use a split-window algorithm to retrieve the land surface temperature via Landsat-8 OLI/ TIRS data in the Roi Et province area. The research methodology included 1) separating the Landsat-8 OLI data into four types of land use, i.e. the agricultural, forest, urban and water areas and 2) the data for Landsat-8 OLI bands 4 and 5 and Landsat-8 TIRS (bands 10, 11) being analysed to retrieve the land surface temperature using a split-window algorithm. The results from the land-use separation showed that the total area of Roi Et was 8,299.46 km 2 divided into a 4,787 km 2 agricultural area, which accounted for 60.81%; a 1,555 km 2 forest area, accounting for 19.75%; a 1,212 km 2 urban area, accounting for 15.39% and a 317.44 km 2 water area, accounting for 4.03%. The land surface temperature analysis result using a split-window algorithm indicated that the average temperature of Roi Et was 34.74°C. Moreover, it was found that the land surface temperature of the urban area had the highest mean land surface temperature, followed by the forest area, the agricultural area and the water source area, respectively.
