An Investigation of an Electromechanical Valve Actuator With a Disc Type of Electromagnet

Abstract: This paper presents a disc type of electromagnetic circuit for designing of an electromagnetic valve actuator (EVA). The static and the dynamic equations of the system are derived and their numerical solutions are obtained with MATLAB/Simulink programs. A prototype of the EVA was built and some preliminary tests were carried out on them for static and dynamic tests. The effect of holding current is obtained on the dynamic behavior and energy consumption of the system.
