A vital component of any type of organization for the prevention of incidental events and/or voluntary\ud attacks against people and tangible and intangible assets as well as for their protection when incidental\ud events and/or voluntary attacks happen is represented by safety and security management. Because of the\ud incessant development of new dangers and threats, safety and security management requests unceasing\ud updating, by means of powerful and flexible tools, such as BIM, which must be integrated via a multidisciplinary\ud approach, considering also economic features that must optimized from the cost/benefit point\ud of view. Integrated technological systems represent efficient tools to create solutions than can support\ud safety and security management in a competent manner, considering also budgets optimization. For this\ud reason, it is necessary to utilize a wide-range approach which, thanks to its flexibility, allows for the\ud realization of an integrated multidisciplinary model for safety and security management (IMMSSM)\ud which can be supported by a suitable Integrated Technological System Framework (ITSF), even based\ud on Internet of Everything (IoE). To achieve an operative IMMSSM, it is necessary to optimize the\ud available tools from the cost/benefit point of view. This goal represents a difficult challenge because, in\ud general, restricted funds are available. From this point of view, efficient and flexible tools, such as BIM,\ud represent vital elements to obtain solutions characterized by an optimal cost/benefit ratio. ABSTRACT:The historical building heritage, present in the most of Italian cities centres, is, as part of the construction sector, a working potential, but unfortunately it requires planning of more complex and problematic interventions. However, policies to support on the existing interventions, together with a growing sensitivity for the recovery of assets, determine the need to implement specific studies and to analyse the specific problems of each site. The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the methodology and the results obtained from integrated laser scanning activity in order to have precious architectural information useful not only from the cultural heritage point of view but also to construct more operative and powerful tools, such as BIM (Building Information Modelling) aimed to the management of this cultural heritage. The Papal Basilica and the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi in Italy are, in fact, characterized by unique and complex peculiarities, which require a detailed knowledge of the sites themselves to ensure visitor's security and safety. For such a project, we have to take in account all the people and personnel normally present in the site, visitors with disabilities and finally the needs for cultural heritage preservation and protection. This aim can be reached using integrated systems and new technologies, such as Internet of Everything (IoE), capable of connecting people, things (smart sensors, devices and actuators; mobile terminals; wearable devices; etc.), data/information/knowledge and processes to reach the desired goals. The IoE system must implement and support an Integrated Multidisciplinary Model for Security and Safety Management (IMMSSM) for the specific context, using a multidisciplinary approach.

Peculiar, unique and complex cultural heritage sites, such as the Papal Basilica and the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis in Assisi in Italy, need a great effort to ensure visitors security and safety, cultural heritage preservation and protection and great usability for visitors with particular reference to visitors with disabilities and for all the people and personnel normally present for the site management.This goal can be reached using integrated systems and new technologies, such as Internet of Everything (IoE), which allows to connect people, things (mobile terminals, smart sensors, devices, actuators, wearable devices, etc.), data/information/knowledge and processes to reach the desired purposes.The IoE system must be able to implement and support an integrated multidisciplinary model for security and safety management (IMMSSM) for the specific context, using a multidisciplinary approach.Because of the plenty of data and information necessary to produce a proper IMMSSM which allows the consequent design and realization of the related IoE system, it is necessary to have detailed and accurate information about the architectural aspects of this wide, complex and peculiar site that only a proper laser scanning activity allows.The purpose of this article is to illustrate the methodology and the results obtained from the just started laser scanning activity that allowed to obtain precious architectural information useful not only from the cultural heritage point of view but also for more operative and powerful tools, such as building information modelling, where all the information can be transferred later.
