Green entrepreneurship is an important phenomenon from the point of view of economic development. However, the topic has not been sufficiently analysed and knowledge in this area is not systematised. Supporting the development of green enterprises and increasing the resilience of the economy and natural ecosystems requires a more in-depth analysis of the conditions and factors that influence the development of green entrepreneurship. Green (or ecological) entrepreneurship is closely related to the textile sector, which should be particularly interested in the introduction of various types of eco-innovations that reduce or prevent negative environmental impacts while contributing to the achievement of competitive advantage and profitability. The textile sector is focused on sustainability issues – both in terms of environmental protection and global social responsibility. The goal of this paper is to organise knowledge on the phenomenon of green entrepreneurship and to analyse the prospects of its development in the light of opinions of Polish textile industry entrepreneurs. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 56 Polish companies from the textile industry. The results obtained indicate that Polish textile industries are interested in implementing all kinds of eco-innovations concentrated in the so-called environmental management system, which should become part of any organisation in the sector analysed. The paper is divided into three main parts. In the first part the phenomenon of green entrepreneurship is characterised. Then the methodology of the survey is presented. The final part is a presentation of results of the survey conducted in Polish textile industry enterprises.

This paper is the second part of a series reporting the recent development of a computerised method for automatic mosaic sequential yarn images. In our earlier work, an effective method for stitching sequence slub yarn images automatically was developed based on image processing and the normalised cross correlation (NCC) method. 100 image pairs of two kinds of slub yarn were measured in certain specific conditions, such as the frame rate, size of stitching template, etc., and the measurement results were evaluated with the manual method. In this paper, the effects of various influencing factors are numerically examined, including the stitching template size, threshold value, frame rate, and computing time of the mosaic algorithm. The feasibility and accuracy of the fully computerized method were evaluated further under the various influencing parameters. One hundred percent cotton ring spun single slub yarns of 27.8, 15.6, and 9.7 tex were prepared and used for the evaluation. The measurement results obtained by the method proposed are analysed and compared with those measured manually by Adobe Photoshop. The experimental results show that the method proposed can accurately find the stitch position and has a high consistency with the manual method when the matching template is 100 × N pixels, the threshold value T1 ∈ [20, 40] and T2 ∈ [51, 80], and the frame rate is greater than 40 fps.

The micro-level structure of staple yarn and the fiber arrangement inside it has a decisive influence on its physical properties. This study aims to introduce a combined method based on micro computerized tomography (micro CT) and digital image processing techniques to probe the ring yarn structure in a non-invasive manner. Two micro CT systems at different CT settings were applied to achieve optimal quality CT images of cotton ring yarns. Three image processing algorithms were proposed to enhance and process the yarn CT images in order to extract yarn structural information. The proposed method was also applied on two yarn specimens, which varied significantly in terms of their tensile strength, to study differences in their underlying structures. The results showed that the longitudinal arrangement of fibers in terms of their migratory behavior had a decisive influence on the tensile properties of the yarn. The stronger yarn showed a higher value of the amplitude and intensity of fiber migration compared to the weaker yarn, suggesting that the protocol established in this study can effectively reveal fiber arrangements within a staple yarn structure in a non-invasive manner.
