Technology assessment and selection problems have gained importance in recent decades as the used technology often determines the enterprises’ competitive advantage. Due to the extensive catalogue of criteria that should be considered and, on the other hand, the extensive catalogue of available technologies and solutions, the decision-making process of choosing a technology becomes a significant challenge for organisations and individuals. This study aims to identify the main research directions and trends in the scientific literature on applying multi-criteria analysis (MCA) in the context of technology assessment and/or technology selection. The author conducted a bibliometric analysis of publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. The methodology of this study also included identifying the most productive authors, countries, organisations, and journals and analysing the occurrence and co-occurrence of terms. Final analyses included 380 publications retrieved from the Scopus database and 311 documents retrieved from the Web of Science repository. The analysis of the occurrence of terms and keywords allowed distinguishing two main research directions in using MCA methods in assessing and selecting industrial and health and medicine-related technologies. Some sub-areas have also been distinguished within these two areas: energy and renewable energy technologies, waste management, biomedical and medical technologies, and drug production technologies.

Medical errors negatively affect patients, healthcare professionals, and healthcare establishments. Therefore, all healthcare service members should be attentive to medical errors. Research has revealed that most medical errors are caused by the system, rather than individuals. In this context, guaranteeing patient safety and preventing medical faults appear to be basic elements of quality in healthcare services. Healthcare institutions can create internal regulations and follow-up plans for patient safety. While this is beneficial for the dissemination of patient safety culture, it poses difficulties in terms of auditing. On the other hand, the lack of a standard patient safety management system, has led to great variation in the quality of the provided service among hospitals. Therefore, this study aims to create an index system to create a standard system for patient safety by classifying medical errors. Due to the complex nature of healthcare and its processes, interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy logic is used in the proposed index system. Medical errors are prioritized, based on the index scores that are generated by the proposed model. Because of this systematic study, not only can the awareness of patient safety perception be increased in health institutions, but their present situation can also be displayed, on the basis of each indicator. It is expected that the outcomes of this study will motivate institutions to identify and prioritize their future improvements in the patient safety context.

Son yıllarda, sağlık sistemlerinde, hastaların artan beklenti ve ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda hızla gelişmekte olan bağımsız ve tarafsız performans değerlendirme kavramı, denetlenebilir, hasta odaklı, hesap verebilirliği fazla olan, verimli, iyileştirilebilir, sürdürülebilir ve erişilebilir sistemler meydana getirebilmek açısından büyük bir önem taşımaktadır. Performans değerlendirme sürecinin ana aktörlerinden biri, belirli performans göstergelerinin tanımlanabileceği ve sağlık sisteminde gereken alanlarda düzenli olarak kullanılabilecek bir yapının sunulması olmakla beraber, bu sürece netlik kazandırmak amacıyla performansın bütünsel bir görünümünü oluşturabilmek için konuyu odak noktası alan araştırmacılar tarafından, sağlık sisteminin çeşitli yapıtaşlarında farklı araç ve yöntemler kullanılarak çalışmalara devam edilmektedir. Sağlık hizmetlerinde performans değerlendirme, her ne kadar zor ve karmaşık bir süreç olsa da sistemin iyileştirilebilmesi-geliştirilebilmesi adına kritik bir önem taşımaktadır. Bu derleme çalışmasında, sağlık alanında 2011-2021 yılları arasında gerçekleştirilen çeşitli performans değerlendirme çalışmalarında kullanılan araç ve yöntemler incelenerek özetlenmiş, çalışmalarda öne çıkan kavramlar sınıflandırılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda literatürdeki eksikliklerin gözlemlenmesiyle, gerçekleştirilen çalışmanın, mevcut literatüre katkı sağlaması amaçlanmıştır.
