The development of fuzzy sets in geographic information systems (GIS) arose out of the need to handle uncertainty and the ability of soft computing technology to support fuzzy information processing. Fuzzy logic is an alternative logical foundation coming from artificial intelligence (AI) technology with several useful implications for spatial data handling. GIS has been found to have a crucial role in the performance of public sector organizations (PSO). However, the literature shows no universal model to support and shed light on GIS adoption, which lessens the chances for effective GIS adoption and usage. Therefore, a new model is needed for successful adoption and eventual enhanced organization’s performance. Thus, there is a need to investigate the factors that can bring about GIS adoption. Models for GIS adoption in literature are few and far between, and the few that exist are not applicable as they do not cover all the significant factors that can contribute to adoption success. Hence, this paper brought a GIS adoption model for PSOs to promote their performance. The model was developed through the extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in addition to the DeLone and McLean’s Success Model. The study involved interviews with ten experts in ranking the extracted factors, and data was analyzed through thematic analysis. On the basis of the obtained analysis findings, the fundamental factors were found to be significant in their effects, and GIS adoption sufficiently related to the overall performance. Thus, the study contributes to the body of knowledge by filling the gap in the literature.

Addressing the limitations of current digital simulations for historical buildings, this paper suggests a specific technical task for the development of a simulation analysis platform based on City Intelligent Modelling (CIM). The objective is to establish a systematic approach for digitally maintaining and managing historical dwellings. The technique presented in this paper focuses on constructing sophisticated parametric models that offer numerous modelling benefits, allowing for convenient updates to the Historic Building Information Modelling (HBIM). The text discusses various applications and integrations of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in urban planning, construction projects, and historic building renovations. CIM is presented as a comprehensive digital platform that visually represents cities, aiding urban planners in decision-making for sustainable development. The text delves into the use of advanced analytical tools within CIM for diverse data analysis, predictive modelling, and simulation to forecast trends. The focus shifts to the evolution of BIM, progressing from 3D to 5D models, influencing construction project management and cost estimation. The integration of BIM in historic building projects is explored, emphasising the challenges and proposing innovative solutions using HBIM. The paper also introduces the concept of Infrastructural Building Information Modelling (InfraBIM) in construction management, incorporating Virtual and Augmented Reality for enhanced visualisation.

A rápida evolução dos sistemas de informação urbana e o crescimento das cidades, tornaram os ambientes urbanos extremamente complexos e as grandes quantidades de dados impactam diretamente na estrutura socioespacial dessas cidades. As mudanças emergentes da tecnologia oferecem uma quantidade de oportunidades, dentre elas o surgimento de novos paradigmas como o City Information Modeling (CIM). Os Sistema de Informação Urbana são formas poderosas para gestão urbana, principalmente com o objetivo de traçar estratégias para enfrentar os desafios do planejamento urbano, através do estabelecimento de indicadores que permitam que as cidades alcancem o desenvolvimento sustentável, inteligente e resiliente. Este artigo apresenta resultados preliminares de uma pesquisa de doutorado desenvolvida através do método Design Science Research, que explora o desenvolvimento de uma estrutura conceitual de modelos CIM e discute soluções de aplicação destes modelos de informação para análise urbana e processos de gestão urbana inteligente. Os resultados apontam que diversos processos tecnológicos e inovadores estão sendo empregados na gestão urbana inteligente, sendo fundamental que o gerenciamento e análise de informações espaciais sejam realizados, e que os modelos devem estar associados a um conjunto de tecnologias como Internet das Coisas, Inteligência artificial e Building Information Modeling para o desenvolvimento das cidades inteligentes.
