This paper investigates the multi-period and multi-echelon spare parts supply optimization problem. The periodic review order-up-to-S inventory policy is considered to determine the supply timing and the spare parts consumption. The spare parts consumption in lead time of each customer is calculated by the process of spare parts supply. A dynamic optimization mathematical model is developed to find the optimal supply scheme in each period with the objective of minimum total costs. In the dynamic optimization model, the parameters are changed with time. An improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to solve this dynamic problem. In the proposed algorithm, a change detector and a change response strategy are used to handle the change of optimization environment. We also adopt a selfadaption neighborhood search strategy to improve the ability of exploration and exploitation of the algorithm. Numerical experiment shows that the proposed strategy can improve the performance of algorithm greatly, and the model and solution method in this paper can be applied to optimize the spare parts supply in various scenarios.

International audienceMany exact and approximate solution techniques have been used to solve facility location problems and, more generally, supply chain network design problems. Yet, the Large Neighborhood Search technique (LNS) has almost never been suggested for solving such problems, although it has proven its efficiency and flexibility in solving other complex combinatorial optimization problems. In this paper, we propose an LNS framework for solving a four-layer single period multi-product supply chain network design problem. One important feature of the model is that it includes inter-modality: the itinerary followed by the cargo from origin to destination may take several transportation modes. Moreover, several modes may compete on some arcs. Location decisions for intermediate facilities (e.g. plants and distribution centers) are determined by the LNS while transportation modes and product flow decisions are determined by a greedy heuristic. As a post-optimization step, linear programming is used to optimize product flows once the structure of the logistics network is fixed. Extensive experiments, based on randomly generated instances of different sizes and characteristics, show the effectiveness of the method compared with a state-of-the-art solver

TurkeyAfter-sales services have become high-margin businesses that account for larger portions of corporate profits. Delivering the after-sales services is challenging as after-sales services supply chains are significantly different than production-distribution supply chains. The literature provides little guidance on the use of quantitative methods for after-sales services network design. We present a mixed integer linear programming problem formulation to determine warehouse locations, assign repair vendors to facilities and choose mode of transportation while minimizing the total network cost. We transform the large-scale real-life problem of a household appliances manufacturer into a smaller scale to solve optimally in reasonable time. Through a scenario-based approach, we evaluate different configurations of a decentralized network with choices of transportation mode. We test the sensitivity of the solutions. The total cost decreases with additional choices of transportation mode and only slightly increases with the next-day delivery policy while the network solution may change significantly.
