An Integrated Approach to Complex Systems Analysis and Performance Simulation

Abstract: This paper presents a classification of types of simulation techniques and a correlation matrix that maps types of simulation techniques and types of systems engineering tasks. An analysis identifying the most appropriate application of specific types of simulation to “front end” systems engineering task is presented. A template for creating specifications to acquire systems engineering support and system simulation tools is developed to allow systems engineering efforts to increase their level of maturity.
