“…In the case of nearshore sediments due to the constant turbulent nature of water by wave action, nearshore environment become more oxic which in turn increases the deposition of precipitate with adsorption of different elements in the sediments. The coastal enrichment of these elements is consistant with previous studies in other areas of the world ocean (Klomp et al 1986;Sanudo-Wilhelmy & Flegal 1996). Those elevated coastal concentrations have been attributed to benthic remobilisation, including particle resuspension and diffusive fluxes, upwelling and continental weathering (Martin & Gordon 1988;Westerlund & Ohman 1991).…”
