An integrated approach of the analytic network process and fuzzy model mapping of evaluation of urban vulnerability against earthquake

Abstract: The earthquake is one of the most devastating natural hazards that most of the Iranian cities. District 9 of Tehran will be vulnerable due to old residential texture, proximity to North Tehran fault and industrial land use in case of earthquake. Therefore, reducing the vulnerability to this natural disaster is one of the main goals of this study. In the present research, to evaluate vulnerability due to earthquake hazard, 10 indices are studied as effective factors in cities buildings vulnerability. These fact… Show more

“…Buildings with a regular vertical shape that were also grouped in row houses were more likely to be habitable after the earthquake. These results are consistent with recent vulnerability studies (Nazmfar 2019) that have identiñed higher-density (enclosed block) urban layouts and height as more vulnerable and consequently more prone to damage.…”

“…The sudden transformation of urban development from the slow process of modernization in the context of history to widespread development in the suburbs, and the creation of new textures led to ignoring the old texture of the city and accelerated the process of transforming the old texture into a wornout urban texture (Arjomand Kermani, 2020). The territory of erosion in some of these neighborhoods is such that the occurrence of a moderate earthquake may lead to a catastrophe (Nazmfar, 2019). The vulnerability of these textures in the face of natural disasters is one of the most important challenges that have forced planners and urban managers to intervene in these tissues in the form of various plans (Santos et al, 2018).…”
