An Instrumented Urethral Catheter With Supercapacitor Based Force Sensor

Abstract: Urinary incontinence (UI), defined by the International Continence Society as “the complaint of any involuntary leakage of urine” [1], is believed to affect at least 13 million people in the United States. Around 80% of people affected are women [2,3]. The most common type of UI in women is stress urinary incontinence (SUI) [4]. Although not identified as life-threatening, UI may lead to withdrawal from social situations and reduced life quality.
