This research aims to shed light on the advanced thinking behind the design of gardens in the islamic world and their architectural elements, the series of historical developments of gardens throughout history, and their religious and environmental dimensions. This research depends on a comparative study method based on historical and analytical studies. This research concluded to confirm the originality and uniqueness of gardens in islamic societies, a long chain of development at the level of formations and architectural elements. The various elements did not appear suddenly but were the result of a long chain of different experiences, which gradually increased their levels of development and from one society to another until they reached their highest levels in the mughal period, which confirms the false claim of many orientalist researchers that the designers in Indian islamic societies copied and stole the achievements of other civilizations. Analyses and comparisons have shown that it is a purely islamic product through the attempt of these societies apparently to depict the rivers of paradise the four. The study recommended that there is a need to pay attention to the field of garden design and greenery by higher education institutions and architecture colleges.
