An infrastructure for experience centered agile prototyping of ambient intelligence

Abstract: Ubiquitous computing poses new usability challenges that cut across design and development. We are particularly interested in "spaces" enhanced with sensors, public displays and personal devices. How can prototypes be used to explore the user's mobility and interaction, both explicitly and implicitly, to access services within these environments? Because of the potential cost of development and design failure, the characteristics of such systems must be explored using early versions of the system that could di… Show more

“…Overview of the existing AmI examples showed that previously the notions of AmI environments were used for testing. Such, a use of the environment was presented in "the rapid prototyping and analysis of Ambient Intelligence systems" [40]. Implicitly AmI environments were introduced as space of "activity sphere" [41] or "AmI Ecosystem" [42].…”

“…3.3 3D environment model with CPN Silva et al (2009) proposed to combine OpenSimulator tools and CPN to model the 3D environment. Here the architectural information such as location, physical attributes of the components, and the space is defined using OpenSimulator.…”

“…The objective of current research on PN-based modeling is to develop a uniform model for efficiently handling the context management flow. The previous approaches employing the PN have been focusing on representing the relationships and dependencies among the contexts and service provision (Jørgensen et al 2009;Kwon 2004;Silva et al 2009;Sun et al 2010). In this paper we investigate the PN-based context modeling approach while focusing on the issues of how the contexts are modeled and what kinds of context information needs to be considered.…”
