An inflammatory memory and angiogenic self-assembling nanofiber hydrogel scaffold seeded withAkkermansia muciniphilato accelerate the healing of diabetic ischemic ulcers

Abstract: Refractory ulcers are a major challenge in the treatment of a diabetic foot, because of the immunodeficient, ischemic and high-glucose microenvironment. Inflammatory memory peptides, which were extracted from the immune mediator absent in melanoma 2 (AIM2), could effectively improve the immunodeficient microenvironment and special angiogenic peptides could effectively promote angiogenesis. Moreover, the gut flora Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila) participates in diabetic metabolism and could decrease hi… Show more

“…Diabetes was present as a comorbidity in 322 wounds (Ischemia=161; Non-ischemia=161) during assessments performed at days 7 (n=144), 14 (n=136) and 21 (n=42). All included studies reported wound area at days 7 and 14, [14][15][16][17][18][19][20] whereas four studies reported wound area at day 21. 14 16-18 All time-points were eligible for meta-analysis.…”

“…Intestinal microbes play a vital part in regulating host metabolism and surface inflammation. Several researches have shown that our eating lifestyles greatly impact the composition and function of the gut microbiota and may ultimately play a role in initiating or protecting against metabolic disorders [12,13].…”
